An indictment against a contractor accused of embezzling almost UAH 5 million during the reconstruction of a polyclinic in Bereznehuvate has been sent to court in Mykolaiv Oblast.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

It is a former director of a limited liability company. He is charged with misappropriation of budget funds on a large scale and forgery.

The investigation established that the management of the Berezneguvata Multidisciplinary Hospital and the then director of Juventa-GroupUkraine LLC entered into a contract for the reconstruction of the hospital's outpatient clinic. According to law enforcement officers, the contractor who performed the repair work drew up certificates of completion with false information - with an overstated cost and volume of work actually performed by UAH 518 thousand.

In addition, according to the investigation, the acts unreasonably included another UAH 481 thousand to cover the risks associated with inflationary processes.

Investigators also found that the contractor seized another UAH 3 million 936 thousand of budget funds received as an advance payment for the purchase of construction materials and equipment that were not actually purchased.

The prosecutor's office calculated that as a result of these actions, Berezneguvata Multidisciplinary Hospital suffered losses totaling UAH 4.9 million.

In March of this year, a judge of the Novobuh District Court imposed a pre-trial restraint on the suspect - detention. However, the man absconded from the investigation and is now on the international wanted list. Therefore, the investigation was conducted in a special procedure - in absentia. If found guilty, the man faces 7 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
