During the session of the Odesa City Council, a sharp conflict arose between veterans, representatives of trade unions and deputies over the issue of including a representative of the veteran community in the executive committee. Despite the demands for an immediate vote, the city authorities insisted on following the rules of procedure and postponing the decision.

This was reported by Intent.

When formulating the agenda of the session, the deputies raised the issue of involving veterans in the work of the executive committee. MP Oleh Etnarovych emphasized that this was in line with the strategy of veterans' policy, but there was no corresponding item on the agenda.

The military and representatives of veterans' organizations came to the rostrum and expressed their support for Vadym Shipulin's candidacy. They demanded that the issue be immediately put to a vote, emphasizing the support of several organizations.

Ihor Koval said that he did not accept the pressure and emphasized that there are other candidates besides Shipulin who are supported by a larger number of veterans. According to him, the veteran community should independently determine a single representative.

Shouts of "shame" were heard in the hall, and representatives of trade unions accused the city authorities of trying to quarrel with veterans' organizations. They insisted on an immediate decision, but Koval refused to give a specific timeframe, saying only that the issue would be considered by the next session.

After a lengthy argument, the veterans agreed to leave the rostrum. As a result, Ihor Koval proposed to vote for the agenda as a whole and start the session.

Last year, in December, the acting mayor of Odesa appointed a head of the new Department of Veterans Affairs, which was created in the Odesa City Council. The department is headed by Volodymyr Yermakov, who previously headed the municipal institution "Service Office "Veteran Hub".
