Olena Pyrozhenko, a physical education teacher who was evacuated from Oleshky—which is under enemy control—has died. Her heart stopped at a hospital in Kyiv.

This was reported by the Oleshky Educational Institution No. 4.

The deceased’s colleagues note that the pain she endured proved too much for her to bear.

“Our former physical education teacher, Olena Olegivna Pyrozhenko, endured the harsh trials of the occupation in Oleshky and managed to escape to free Ukrainian soil. Unfortunately, her heart, exhausted by the struggle, stopped beating in a Kyiv hospital. She longed to live and be with her loved ones, but the pain she endured proved too much for her,” the school stated.

Educators noted that they remember their colleague as energetic, smiling, and always ready to offer support with advice or a kind word. According to them, she taught children to move forward, not to give up in the face of difficulties, and to stay strong.

On October 30, a Ukrainian delegation led by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Commissioner for Human Rights, arrived in the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. People who wanted to leave the town for territory controlled by Ukraine were given that opportunity.

On the same day, two convoys departed from Oleshky: one headed for Ukraine, the other for Russia. The number of evacuees in each direction is unknown.

Those who wished to travel to territory controlled by the Ukrainian government were transported via the occupied Crimea to Anapa, Russia. From there, they flew to Belarus and were subsequently transported to Ukraine.
