A spy was arrested in Mykolaiv for plotting to kill a soldier in Kyiv

In Mykolaiv, weapons, ammunition, a copy of *Mein Kampf*, and a Nazi flag were seized during a search of a rented apartment. A man who, according to investigators, was recruited by the FSB, was taken into custody. 

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.

According to investigators, the FSB recruits Ukrainians to search for weapons and explosives, set up hideouts, and gather information on military personnel, TCC employees, unit commanders, and local officials. They may also have been tasked with planning arson attacks, explosions, and murders. 

According to the investigation, in July, a resident of Mykolaiv received such an assignment and retrieved a bag from a hideout containing a 7.65 mm VZOR 70 pistol, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, and a silencer. The man transported the weapon to Varvarivka, where he tested it, and then traveled to Odesa, where he settled into a rented apartment.

On July 23, the man traveled to Kyiv. Following instructions from his handler, he went to the area near the dam of the Kyiv Reservoir, where he found another hiding place. From there, he retrieved a Makarov pistol with a silencer, a magazine, and rounds of ammunition.

Investigators believe his next task was to kill a Ukrainian serviceman. On July 31, the man went to a wooded area near Novosilky in the Kyiv region, where he found a motorcycle that had been left for him. He was supposed to kill the soldier that morning, but he did not have time to carry out his plan—he was detained by SBU officers.

During a search of his apartment, investigators seized phones, pistols, ammunition, documents, knives, and SIM cards. The apartment’s owner also handed over a copy of *Mein Kampf* and a Nazi German flag to investigators. The court seized these items as physical evidence. By a separate ruling, the man was remanded in custody for 60 days without the possibility of bail.

Also in August, a 46-year-old Odessa resident was sent to a pretrial detention center for passing on the coordinates of regional military command centers and joint operations headquarters, as well as military facilities in Odessa, to the enemy.
