A scheme to embezzle funds during the renovation of a swimming pool was uncovered in the Kherson region

In the Kherson region, the director of a construction company is suspected of embezzling nearly 700,000 hryvnias in public funds during the renovation of a swimming pool.

This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Kherson region.

According to investigators, he inflated the scope and cost of the work performed in order to receive payment for work that was not actually done.

According to the SBU, in 2018, the construction company signed a contract with the Kherson Regional State Administration to renovate the swimming pool.

The investigation established that the company’s director entered false information regarding the scope and cost of the work performed into official documentation. In 2019, he signed work acceptance certificates containing inaccurate data and submitted them to the client for payment.

As a result, according to law enforcement officials, the director embezzled nearly 700,000 hryvnias in budget funds.

He was notified of his status as a suspect in the crimes of official forgery and misappropriation of another’s property through abuse of official position, committed on an especially large scale. The charges fall under Part 1 of Article 366 and Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of imposing a preventive measure on the construction company’s director is currently being decided.
