According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, a woman called the police department No. 1 of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police department and reported that an explosion was being prepared at one of the territorial centers for recruitment and social support.

The police immediately arrived at the address indicated in the report and inspected the building and the surrounding area. No explosives were found.

The citizen who provided the false report was identified by law enforcement officers the same day. The offender was a 50-year-old resident of the Tatarbunary territorial community. As investigators found out, the woman was trying to prevent her relative from being mobilized.

"We initiated criminal proceedings and, having gathered sufficient evidence, notified the suspect of suspicion of knowingly making a false report of an explosion if the objects of the false report were buildings that support the activities of public authorities. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to eight years under Article 259(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," said Andriy Mashchenko, head of Police Department No. 1 of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Police Department.

In February, the Malynovskyi District Court of Odesa found the serviceman guilty of falsely reporting a bomb threat against the court and sentenced him to 5 years and a month in prison.

Last October, police reported that they were checking a number of facilities in the Odesa region because of a bomb threat letter whose author accused Radio Liberty journalists of being responsible.

The letter was signed by a person who called himself a representative of a "terrorist group" after the name of an anti-Ukrainian telegram channel of the same name, which spreads calls to burn Ukrainian military vehicles and persecute the military of the TCC.
