Odesa plans to create a new playground on Soborna Square to meet the needs of children with disabilities. UAH 4.3 million will be allocated from the city budget.

As reported by the Center for Public Investigations, citing the Prozorro platform, the tender for the overhaul of the landscaping elements on the territory of Soborna Square was announced by the utility companyMiskzelentrest.

The project envisages the creation of a modern inclusive playground. The expected cost of the works is UAH 4.3 million, and they are to be completed by December 20, 2025.

Applications from contractors will be accepted until June 3, and on the same day, an auction will be held in the format of open bidding with special features that provide for reduced deadlines for submitting applications and appeals.

Under the terms of the tender documentation, the contractor must dismantle old elements, lay new surfaces, install three modern playgrounds, inclusive equipment, a 100-meter-long fence, trash bins, benches, and other amenities. Particular emphasis was placed on accessibility for children with disabilities, visual impairments, musculoskeletal disorders and autoimmune diseases.

The previous inclusive playground on Soborna Square in Odesa was dismantled on April 4. According to the mayor's office, the dismantling was carried out due to the emergency condition of the structures and possible danger to children. Interestingly, this playground did not exist for six years. It was opened in the fall of 2019.

Earlier, Intent wrote that Odesa is considering a case of alleged embezzlement of budget funds during the repair of a shelter in kindergarten No. 241, located at 5-A Vitalia Blazhka Street.
