A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a map with the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the page of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on a Russian social network.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, in early June 2025, the suspect posted information not authorized for publication in order to assist the aggressor state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine.
"Acting in the interests of the aggressor state, he published an image from a Google map with data on the location of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the official page of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in a banned Russian social network ," the statement said.
At the same time, he was fully aware that the information would be used by the Russian armed forces to launch missile and drone strikes, as well as to conduct reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine's defense capabilities.
The law enforcement exposed and detained the suspect. Under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Odesa Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region, the serviceman was served a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law. At the request of the prosecutor's office, he was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention without bail.
Earlier, the Prymorskyi Court of Odesa sentenced the serviceman to 15 years in prison for high treason. Having access to the official information of the military unit, the accused in October 2024 corresponded in Telegram with an unidentified employee of the Russian Federation's intelligence agency. The information he transmitted to the Russian concerned the location of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine could harm the defense and state security of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine also reported the detention in Odesa region of another agent of the Russian federal security service who was adjusting missile and drone strikes on one of the region's port cities.
