A map of Kherson and Russian symbols were admitted as evidence in a treason case

A court has seized the property of a Kherson resident suspected of treason and of justifying Russia’s armed aggression. According to investigators, the man passed information to an FSB officer regarding the deployment locations of Ukrainian troops, the operations of air defense forces, and the consequences of Russian shelling.

This is evidenced by a ruling from the Central District Court of Mykolaiv.

Law enforcement officials believe that while in Kherson, the suspect took precautions to conceal his activities and used the Telegram messaging app to communicate with a user whom investigators identified as an FSB officer.

According to the investigation, the man passed on information to the Russian intelligence service regarding the deployment and movements of Ukrainian Defense Forces units, military equipment, and air defense positions, as well as details about the consequences of Russian strikes on Kherson. Investigators claim that this information was collected and transmitted from June 5 to June 21, 2026.

In July, SBU officers conducted a search of the man’s residence, during which they seized a Nokia cell phone with SIM cards, an HP laptop, a topographic map titled “500 Streets of Kherson,” a folder containing documents from the Russian organization “Combat Brotherhood,” the organization’s magazine, a notebook, and a sticker reading “Kherson is a Russian city.”

On the same day, the man was detained and informed that he was suspected of high treason and justifying the Russian Federation’s armed aggression. The seized property was admitted as physical evidence in the case.

The judge ordered the seizure of the phone, laptop, map, documents, magazine, notebook, and sticker, noting that they may contain information relevant to the investigation. At the same time, the judge refused to seize the “Luder” single-barrel shotgun, as investigators had not proven its significance as evidence in this case.

Also in July, the Court of Appeals upheld the legality of a life sentence for a Kherson resident who had helped Russian intelligence agencies gather information on Ukrainian military personnel.
