A man from the village of Bereznehuvate in Mykolaiv region refused to serve out of fear for his life, but the court did not accept his arguments.

The Bereznehuvate District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast passed the sentence.

According to the case file, on February 22, 2024, the accused received a summons to report to a military unit for correction, but did not report for military service. He was found fit for military service after passing a medical examination. At the trial, the man pleaded guilty and explained that he did not want to serve because he feared for his life and health.

The court found the defendant's guilt fully proven. During the trial, the court took into account that the accused pleaded guilty and sincerely repented of his actions. His behavior at the time of evading mobilization was motivated by personal fears, but this was not a mitigating circumstance.

The court also took into account the absence of aggravating circumstances in the case, as well as the fact that the defendant had no previous convictions. At the same time, he is characterized as a person who does not have a permanent job and abuses alcohol, although he is not registered with a narcologist or psychiatrist.

As a result, the court sentenced him to three years in prison.

Meanwhile, in Mykolaiv region, a court sentenced an officer of an artillery division who was found to be intoxicated on duty.

Recently, the marine fighter was held accountable in court for negligence in storing weapons during mobilization. He will pay almost 350 thousand in compensation. The verdict in the case of the loss of military property was announced by the Snihuriv District Court of Mykolaiv region.

In addition, a soldier from Kryvoozersky district of Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 7 years in prison.
