A doctor and a nurse who diagnosed conscripts with depression were detained in Odesa

In Odesa, a doctor and a nurse who organized a scheme to evade mobilization were taken into custody. For $3,000, the medical professionals issued fake documents to conscripts diagnosing them with depressive disorders so they could subsequently travel abroad.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The court set bail at five million hryvnias for the doctor and one million hryvnias for the nurse. As of now, the bail has not been posted. 

Investigators believe that the arrested individuals issued fake medical documents, organized “treatment,” and prepared paperwork to subsequently secure disability status and facilitate illegal travel abroad.

In particular, one of the conscripts, whose deferment was about to expire, was diagnosed with a depressive disorder. This was intended to serve as the basis for subsequently obtaining a fictitious Group II disability status and crossing the border without hindrance.

As reported by Intent, a psychiatrist and a nurse in Odesa were exposed for issuing fictitious disability certifications to healthy men in exchange for money so they could travel abroad. For a series of fabricated hospitalizations and the forgery of medical documents, the detained medical professionals face up to nine years in prison.

Law enforcement documented a case in which the medical professionals, in exchange for money, promised to help a perfectly healthy Odessa resident obtain a Group II disability status. He was placed under psychiatric observation and admitted for inpatient treatment five times. In reality, however, he was never hospitalized and did not spend a single day in the hospital.
