A computer science teacher from Beryslav, who headed an occupation-run school, will stand trial

A former computer science teacher from Beryslav in the Kherson region headed a school under the occupiers and organized the children’s education according to Russian Federation standards. The woman has been charged with collaborating with the enemy and will stand trial.

According to the prosecutor’s office, in August 2022, while in Beryslav—which was occupied at the time—the suspect took on the role of so-called “principal” of a school established by the occupying authorities.

The woman registered the seized school in the Russian Federation’s state registry and organized its operations in accordance with Russian legislation.

She held a general staff meeting where she announced an “order” regarding her “appointment” and urged people to cooperate with the occupying authorities.

Subsequently, the woman hired those willing to work in various positions and ensured that salaries were paid in rubles. As justification, she claimed that the school would operate strictly according to Russian standards.

The suspect removed all Ukrainian literature, textbooks, and symbols from the building, replacing them with symbols of the aggressor state. She received Russian teaching materials and textbooks from the occupying authorities and switched all educational and administrative documentation exclusively to the Russian language. In addition, she organized the enrollment of local children in the school.

She told employees who refused to cooperate to leave the school premises.

The prosecutor’s office has not disclosed the defendant’s last name; however, as Intent has learned, the individual in question is Tamara Miroshnychenko.

Information about her is also available on the “Myrotvorets” website. There, she is accused of being involved in an encroachment on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it is also noted that she held the position of “chairperson” of the so-called territorial election commission in Hornostaivka and participated in conducting a pseudo-referendum.

According to the investigation, prior to the start of the full-scale invasion, Tamara Miroshnychenko worked as a computer science teacher at the “Academic Lyceum,” a flagship educational institution in Beryslav. No later than August 2022, following the occupation of Beryslav, she agreed to head a school established by the occupying authorities.

She is charged with collaboration under Part 3 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and aiding an aggressor state under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

It should be noted that in 2025, Tamara Miroshnychenko had already been sentenced for collaboration.
