A child drowned for the second time at a closed beach in Mykolaiv

<span><span><span><span><span><span>A teenager drowned in the water near the pier in the Namiv neighborhood of Mykolaiv. This is the second fatality at this location this year. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

Rescue workers reminded the public that<span><span><span><span><span><span>there are currently no officially authorized swimming areas in Mykolaiv. Therefore, entering the water in the Namyv neighborhood and at other prohibited beaches is a deliberate risk.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In total, 21 emergencies have occurred in the water bodies of the Mykolaiv region since the beginning of the year. Sixteen people have died, including two children. Another 11 people were rescued.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>The highest number of accidents was recorded in the Mykolaiv District—14 incidents, 11 fatalities (including 2 children), and 8 people rescued. In the Voznesensk District, there were 4 incidents—2 people died and 3 were rescued. In the Pervomaiskyi district, there were 2 incidents and 2 fatalities. In the Bashtanskyi district, there was 1 emergency incident, which also resulted in one fatality.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier, on the coast of the estuary in the Mykolaiv region, a poisonous karakurt spider bit a 60-year-old woman. The victim was hospitalized. Her condition is moderate.

The incident occurred in the evening onthe beachof the Berezan Estuary near the village of Osetrivka. While relaxing, she sat down on the sand, felt a sharp sting in her thigh, and managed to spot a small black spider.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminded the public that this is currently the peak season for karakurt spider activity.
