Law enforcement officials have referred to court a case against a lawyer from the Odesa region who is suspected of forging documents. According to investigators, she helped an accomplice embezzle a 30% stake in a grain terminal valued at nearly 70 million hryvnias.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The woman is charged with entering false information into documents for state registration and illegally appropriating a stake in the company. The indictment against the lawyer has already been submitted to the court. She faces 5 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. Her accomplice has been placed on the wanted list.

Detectives from the Economic Security Bureau determined that the woman had worked in agribusiness for a long time, knew the company’s co-owners, its structure, and the specifics of its registration procedures.

According to the case file, the 46-year-old lawyer used forged documents to remove the legal owner from the list of shareholders. She then transferred his stake to companies under her control. As a result, 100% of the corporate rights to the grain terminal, valued at 270 million hryvnias, came under the control of a single owner.

The grain elevator is geographically located in the Sumy region. However, to carry out the scheme, the company was re-registered in Odesa. To do this, they used documents purporting to show that a general meeting had been held, which, according to the investigation, did not actually take place.

Currently, with the assistance of BEB detectives, the rightful owner has regained his 30% stake. The illegal registration actions have been revoked.
