In the Odesa region, a privatized pier was seized through court proceedings

In the Odesa region, following a lawsuit filed by the prosecutor’s office, a pier—the private ownership rights to which had been registered to a private company—was returned to state ownership.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors proved in court that the pier was not subject to privatization and was to remain state property. The law explicitly prohibited the privatization of piers.

On September 8, 2026, the Southwestern Commercial Court of Appeals upheld the decision of the court of first instance.

Thus, the port infrastructure facility was returned to the state. The prosecutor’s office noted that this is of particular importance under martial law, especially for the country’s economic and transportation security.

According to the investigation, officials of the state-owned enterprise “Pivdennyi Sea Trade Port” may have conspired with representatives of LLC “VKP ‘Tako’” and JSC “Dniprovskyi Switch Plant” during the procurement of railway equipment at allegedly inflated prices.

The investigation established that in 2024, the port announced three tenders for the purchase of such equipment with a total estimated cost of nearly 25 million hryvnias. Each procurement had only one bidder—VKP “Tako” LLC—which was awarded the contract.
