650 passengers were evacuated to Mykolaiv after a Russian strike on a train

On September 16, Russian troops attacked a passenger train in the Mykolaiv region. As a result, more than 650 people were transported by bus to Mykolaiv and back.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

In the morning, the enemy struck passenger train No. 122 (Kyiv–Mykolaiv) with a drone on the section between Novyi Buh and Bashtanka. 

“Together with local communities and relevant services, we provided buses for passengers on the Kyiv – Mykolaiv and Lviv – Mykolaiv routes, as well as those who were supposed to travel by train in the opposite direction—from Mykolaiv to Kyiv and Lviv,” said Georgiy Reshetilov, acting head of the Regional State Administration.

He added that immediately after the train was struck, 168 passengers were transported to Mykolaiv by bus. In total, more than 650 people were transported throughout the day.

After the first strike, the Russian military attacked the train twice more. According to preliminary information, there were no injuries.

Debris also damaged an overhead power line. Eighteen settlements—3,628 customers—were left without power. Power company workers were working to restore electricity, according to the report.

In August, a Russian“Shahed” drone struck a passenger train traveling from Odesa to Dnipro. The train driver and his assistant were killed when the drone hit the locomotive. There was also another strike—on a diesel locomotive that was performing shunting operations.

At that time, 525 passengers, including 130 children, were evacuated from the scene to Odesa. Buses were used to transport the passengers. A child who was injured received medical assistance at the scene.
