During the liberation of the right-bank part of Kherson region, more than 48 thousand people have been evacuated from dangerous areas.
This was reported by the deputy head of the regional military administration Yaroslav Shanko.
Among the 48,000 evacuees are more than 6,600 children and 470 people with reduced mobility.
The evacuation was organized with the support of volunteers, given the difficult security situation. The army of the aggressor country is constantly shelling the Kherson region.
Yaroslav Shanko also appealed to residents of coastal communities to contact the hotline (0800-101-102 or 0800-033-09-51) for free evacuation and assistance in a new place.
As of September, the right-bank part of Kherson region was home to one-third of the population living in this part of the region.
Before the full-scale invasion, the right bank of the Kherson region was home to about 490,000 people. Now, as of September 1, 2024, this figure is about 168 thousand people, but compared to 2023.

In August, the Kherson region decided to evacuate residents of 50 settlements. Over the past month, twice as many civilians, including children, have been injured in hostile attacks. Recently, the number of civilian casualties due to hostile strikes has doubled, including children.
The main focus is on evacuating families with children from settlements located in the area of active hostilities. Philanthropists provide support in finding housing, meeting basic needs, processing documents and social benefits, as well as legal and psychological assistance.
Earlier, Mykolaiv marines successfully evacuated residents from Vovchansk, which is located in the area of active hostilities in Kharkiv region. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the Black Battalion, they managed to evacuate nine elderly people who had been hiding in a basement for 16 days from Russian shelling.
