Great Meadow is a vast river floodplain on the left bank of the Dnieper between the Dnieper and the Kinskaya River, as well as along the right bank from the mouth of the Middle Khortytsia. This area, covering more than 400 km², is overgrown with deciduous forest, reeds, and cattails and historically belonged to the Zaporizhian Sich. The floodplains have significant ecological importance as a natural ecosystem of southern Ukraine and a habitat for numerous species of flora and fauna.
