Sviatoslav Karavansky
Sviatoslav Karavanskyy was a Ukrainian linguist, poet, translator, and journalist who became a symbol of the Ukrainian dissident movement. He was a long-term prisoner of Soviet camps (1944–1960, 1965–1979) and an active participant in resistance against the communist regime. His legacy is connected to the struggle for the Ukrainian language, culture, and independence. Karavanskyy's memory is preserved in Ukrainian cities, particularly in Odesa, where streets and cultural events are dedicated to him.
