Kobzar

Kobzars are Ukrainian folk singers and musicians, creators and keepers of the epic tradition. They transmitted historical songs, dumas, religious and moralistic works, accompanying them with performances on the kobza, lira, or bandura. The significance of kobzars for Ukrainian culture is compared to the significance of ancient Greek poets and poetesses in ancient Greece.
