Kill zone

A "kill zone" is a buffer territory established by the occupying authority on the territory of Ukraine where civilian population is prohibited from being present. The term is used to designate exclusion zones created by Russian military forces in occupied regions, particularly in Kherson region and other territories. Such zones are often expanded and used as a means of controlling the population and territory. Information about the expansion of kill zones is important for monitoring the humanitarian situation in occupied areas of Ukraine.
