Field kitchens and military nutrition

A field kitchen is a special mobile device for preparing food and organizing meals for military personnel and staff of formations in field conditions, at remote sites, and in units where there are no stationary kitchens. It is typically based on a mobile chassis or platform of a cargo vehicle and includes cauldrons for cooking, compartments for storing food and kitchen equipment. Field kitchens provide hot meals to military units during combat operations and in conditions where normal infrastructure is unavailable.
