Family patronage for children

Family patronage is a form of placement of orphaned children and children deprived of parental care in the family of a patronage caregiver on a temporary or permanent basis. It is an alternative to institutional care in children's homes, aimed at providing children with a family environment and conditions for development. Patronage families receive state support, including financial assistance and social services. This format of care is actively developing in Ukrainian regions as part of the policy of transition from institutional to family upbringing of children.
