Derussification in Ukraine: restoration of the national
Derussification is a process of restoring national identity, culture, and historical memory lost as a result of Russification. In Ukraine, it includes renaming settlements, streets, institutions, and dismantling symbols of Soviet and Russian presence, especially in regions liberated from occupation. Derussification also encompasses a reinterpretation of cultural heritage and decolonization of public space. It is a key part of Ukrainian national revival and state policy aimed at restoring authentic Ukrainianness.
