Christmas Fast

Christmas Fast

Christmas Fast is one of the main fasts in Eastern Christian churches, which traditionally begins on November 15 and lasts 40 days until December 24. This period precedes the celebration of the Nativity of Christ and involves observing certain dietary restrictions and spiritual practices. The fast focuses on preparing the faithful for the celebration of the Incarnation and includes a number of traditional rites and customs characteristic of the Ukrainian Orthodox calendar. The completion of the fast coincides with Holy Eve — Christmas Eve, when families gather at a festive table with traditional dishes.
