Button-pressing in the authorities of Ukraine
Button voting is the practice of impersonal voting in parliamentary bodies, when a deputy votes instead of another absent colleague, often by his assignment or in fulfillment of a faction's decision. This phenomenon is widespread in Ukrainian local councils and the Verkhovna Rada, where deputies press voting buttons for their colleagues. Such practice violates the principles of democratic representation and personal responsibility of deputies and is recognized as a crime under Ukrainian legislation and international law.
