Kivalov is leaving the Law Academy
- The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to transfer the Odesa Law Academy to the Technikov National University. The Ministry of Education and Science explained that this is part of the modernization of education and assured that students will continue their studies without changes.
- People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko commented on his Telegram channel: "Yurka is Kivalov. He is in charge of everything there. He created this Academy. Yurka's joining Mechnikov is a response to the photo with Zaluzhnyi."
- Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi on Facebook: "The decision made at the government meeting is logical given the changes that the Ministry of Education and Science is implementing in higher education, revising the network of institutions. The reorganization will not negatively affect students and teachers; however, the situation is different for the management of the institution, including Serhiy Kivalov, who, in my opinion, never had the moral right to remain in education after the facts in his biography are known to everyone."
- Social media reported that an extraordinary meeting of the staff of the Law Academy was held. The delegates unanimously condemned the government's order to merge the Law Academy and ONU, calling it illegal and adopted with violations. The staff decided to prepare an appeal for the dismissal of the Minister of Education from his post.
- The President of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" Serhiy Kivalov is a member of parliament of six convocations. He was accused of participating in fraud during the 2004 presidential election; together with Andriy Portnov, he was the ideologist of the 2010 judicial reform, which was made "under Yanukovych"; in 2010, he voted for the ratification of the Kharkiv agreements; during the Revolution of Dignity, he voted for the "Dictatorial laws of January 16"; in January 2018, he was one of 36 MPs who voted against the Law on the recognition of Ukrainian sovereignty over the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
