"Balta defeated an opponent for the first time in European competition

Football. European Challenge Cup

• The vice-champions and winners of the Ukrainian Cup, SC Balta from Odesa region, received the right to play in an international tournament, namely the European Challenge Cup, at the end of last season. The first rivals of the Baltians were representatives of Austria - Eisenerz.

• Since Balta cannot host international matches at home for obvious reasons, both games took place in Austria. Despite this, the Ukrainians confidently won both matches - in three games in the away match, and confidently winning the tiebreaker in the nominally home match.

• "This is the second time Balta has participated in the Challenge Cup, but it's the first time they've reached the second round - two seasons ago they were eliminated in the first stage by Azerrail. In the 1/16 finals, Balta will play against VC Nebo Zapresic from Croatia.

• "Chornomorets lost points for the fifth time in the last six matches. In a match with a loud historical sign, the Odesa team failed to beat Kharkiv' s Metalist away from home . The only goal was scored by Kharkiv defender Bohdan Porokh. • "Interchem won confident victories in the Women's Super League matches. The Odesa team defeated Vinnytsia Medical University twice at home. Alisa Yagodka-Borchan and Diana Bondaryuk scored a double-double in the first game.

• Handball Odesa with new coach Oleh Sych on the bench and the new head of the city military administration Serhiy Lysak in the stands defeated Karpaty twice without any problems.

• Oleksandra Oliynykova, a tennis player representing Odesa , made it to the final of theWTA 125 tournament in Tucumán, Argentina. This is the sixth final of the tournament, and the second WTA final for Oleksandra this year. The final match against Egyptian Mayar Sherif will take place on Monday night.

• Alina Komashchuk, the Olympic champion from Odesa, finished 17th at the first stage of the World Cup in Algeria. The Ukrainian saber fencer lost in the round of 16 to the "neutral" Russian Alina Mikhailova.

• Ukrainian Paralympic powerlifter Dmytro Polovych set a world record at the World Championships in Hungary. The 25-year-old from Mykolaiv recorded a weight of 105 kg in the deadlift, which is a record for his weight category among athletes with cerebral palsy.

• The owner of Lithuanian football club Žalgiris, Mindaugas Kasperūnas , gave an interview to Base of Ukrainian Sports, in which he told how he actively helps the Ukrainian military along the entire contact line, including in Kherson region, and explained his motivation.
