Moldova denies claims of complete blockade of Transnistria

Information that Ukraine and Moldova have resorted to the complete closure of the borders with the Transnistrian region of Moldova in Odesa and other regions.
This statement was made by Iryna Tabaranu, co-founder and journalist of Zona de Securitate.
According to her, Moscow controls the so-called peacekeeping mission on the Dniester, which has 15 military checkpoints along the river and would intervene if any additional checkpoint appeared or if any road was blocked.
"Do you have even minimal knowledge of the area where you live? If you did, you would know that within the perimeter of the Security Zone, i.e. in the immediate vicinity of the region, no new checkpoints, monitoring points or blocked routes can be established without the consent of the Joint Control Commission consisting of three parties: Russia - Tiraspol - Chisinau. Only these parties can decide on their appearance. This decision was not made by the Joint Control Commission. And if Chisinau had such intentions, Tiraspol would have made a fuss a long time ago," the journalist said.
She also recalled that Ukraine closed its border along the perimeter of the Transnistrian region on February 28, 2022, so on January 1, 2026, as stated in the Euromaidan Press article, it had nothing left to close, the border was already closed. The rotation of Russian troops had been suspended since 2014 and has not been resumed.
In early December, Ukraine froze part of the assets of the main oligarch of Transnistria, Viktor Gushan, who co-founded the Sheriff holding and owns an estate and land in Odesa region. Ukrinform also reported that the occupiers have intensified their activities in Transnistria, threatening Ukraine's security from the southern border. The region is stepping up mobilization, decommissioning weapons, and launching the production of drones.
