Ukraine has initiated an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council and the OSCE Permanent Council in response to the bloody Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga.
According to him, both meetings will be held on April 8. Their goal is to draw the attention of the international community to another war crime committed by Russia, to achieve a strong condemnation of the aggressor, and to increase diplomatic pressure to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Mr. Sibiga called on the international community to take active action and emphasized that Russia must immediately stop its terror against the civilian population of Ukraine, agree to the US proposal for a complete ceasefire, which Kyiv has already supported, and stop the war.
"A strong international response to Russia's atrocities is critical. Such terror must never be normalized. We call for both strong condemnation and decisive action. Russia must stop the terror against Ukrainian children and civilians, respond to the US proposal for a complete ceasefire, which Ukraine has accepted, and end the war," the Foreign Minister said in a statement.
The Minister reminded that a Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih killed nine children. This is the largest number of Ukrainian children killed by Russians in a single attack since 2022.
On the evening of April 4, the Russian army fired a ballistic missile at a residential neighborhood in Kryvyi Rih. As a result, 20 people were killed, including 9 children, and more than 70 others were injured. The tragedy in Kryvyi Rih was followed by a day of mourning across Ukraine.
As of the morning of April 8, 31 people remain in hospitals, including 5 children. Six patients are still in serious condition.
