The Week of Kherson, which started on August 24, has ended in Bonn (Germany). During this time, a number of cultural and educational events, business meetings, and negotiations were held to strengthen ties between the two cities.
The event was reported on the website of the Kherson City Council.
According to Vitaliy Belobrov, deputy mayor of Kherson, the main goal of the event is"to develop horizontal ties between our cities, promote Kherson, attract resources and support."
The deputy mayor of Kherson highlights some of the most important business meetings that took place during the Week. For example, the preliminary results of cooperation between Bonn Netz, thecompany that provides utilities to Bonn residents, and Kherson Vodokanal weresummarized . Our utility company has already received equipment worth 124 thousand euros from the Bonn partner. The meeting was about the second stage of the project and assistance worth EUR 200 thousand. Agreements were also reached with Bonn institutions and officials on technical assistance to the Kherson region and on providing Kherson utilities with transportation.
Among the cultural events held as part of the festival, the film "Kherson. People Safari", created by San Francisco journalist Zarina Zabriskie, one of the few foreign journalists who demonstrate to the world the crimes of Russians in Kherson. According to the author, it shows "a city that has turned into a shooting range where civilians are hunted by drones from the sky," "the current reality of Kherson and the people who refuse to surrender." The realities of life in the frontline Kherson region were the subject of the exhibition "The Price of Life" brought to Bonn by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, deputy head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
Tetiana Linetska, a member of the Ukrainian Heart Association, created by Ukrainians living in Bonn, delighted the locals with traditional Ukrainian dishes. Most of the 1600 euros raised at the charity fair went to the needs of the Marine Coastal Defense Brigade, which protects the Kherson region, and the air assault regiment where Kherson residents serve.
We would like to remind you that Kherson and Bonn have been official partners since February 2023, when the deputies of the Bonn City Council unanimously voted to establish sister city relations with Kherson.
