Zelenskyy Linked Overcoming the Global Grain Crisis to the De-occupation of Crimea

During his speech at the Crimean Platform, Ukrainian PresidentVolodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia’s occupation of the peninsula in 2014 was the root cause of the current rise in global energy and food prices. According to him, stabilizing global grain and diesel markets and restoring security to the Black Sea is possible only through the complete liberation of Crimea.
This is stated in Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech.
The president noted that Crimea is at the center of Putin’s war and of all the crises arising from hostilities in the Black Sea.
“If Russia hadn’t stolen Crimea, if Putin hadn’t turned Crimea into a source of war and a massive military base—grain and fertilizers, diesel fuel, and crude oil—would now be moving freely across the Black Sea, just as they did before Putin’s war against us,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to him, people in many countries are now paying more just to get by, while others are forced to fight for their lives simply because one person decided he could redraw borders as he pleased.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is ready to participate in the creation of security corridors and ensuring food stability; however, any de-escalation requires concrete steps on the part of Russia.
The International Crimea Platform is a consultative and coordinating framework established by Ukraine in 2021, aimed at the de-occupation of the peninsula, the protection of its residents’ rights, and the restoration of security in the Black Sea region. The initiative operates at the levels of heads of state, parliaments, foreign ministries, and experts. The platform’s sixth summit brought together over 60 participants and 16 world leaders.
As previously reported by Intent,the European Court of Human Rights held oral hearings in the case of ten Ukrainian children whom Russia, following the occupation of Crimea, cut off from contact with Ukraine and took to its territory. The Ukrainian side stated that this constitutes a systematic practice aimed at altering the identity of Ukrainian children.
