Three Russian agents who acted as part of an organized criminal group that was part of the FSB's agent network and coordinated missile and drone attacks in the city were convicted in Odesa.
According to the SBU press service, they were detained in July 2024.
The court sentenced the chief agent (resident) of the enemy cell to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. His two accomplices were sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all their property.
According to the investigation, the convicts are two mobilized soldiers recruited by the enemy and their acquaintance, a resident of Odesa. On the instructions of the Russian secret service, they tracked and passed on to the Russians the coordinates of the Ukrainian air defense system that defends the city.
To find the coordinates, the agents traveled around the regional center and its surrounding areas by taxi. If they found military facilities, the criminals covertly photographed them and marked the coordinates on Google maps.
The agent group also monitored the situation on the territory of the Odesa seaport. To do this, they had to disguisedly install magnetic cameras with remote access for Russian special services.
For conspiracy, the Russian agents used separate cell phones to coordinate their actions with the FSB. Additionally, their accomplice disguised her appearance by constantly changing wigs in preparation for a reconnaissance mission.
The SBU officers detained the resident of the agent group and his accomplice red-handed when they were taking pictures of a military facility. A third member of the enemy cell was detained in her apartment after she conducted reconnaissance near a potential target.
