The U.S. has allocated 12 million for children who were returned from Russia and the Kherson region

The United States has supported a $12 million program to assist Ukrainian children who have been successfully returned from Russia and the occupied territories. The funds will be used for their rehabilitation and reintegration into normal life.

This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

The organization that will implement the program has already been selected. Representatives of the U.S. Department of State made this announcement during an event held as part of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Another $15 million program, which involves locating, identifying, and returning Ukrainian children, has been submitted for consideration. A decision on this program is expected by the end of 2026.

According to the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, as of September 25, 20,651 cases of deportation and forced displacement of Ukrainian children had been officially confirmed.

At the same time, approximately 1.6 million children remain in the temporarily occupied territories. According to the initiative, they are subject to Russian policies aimed at imposing Russian views and military indoctrination.

In total, Ukraine has managed to repatriate 2,644 children from Russia and the occupied territories.

On September 18, the U.S. president signed a law imposing sanctions for involvement in the forced removal of Ukrainian children.

The restrictions may apply to individuals and organizations that organized, financed, or assisted in carrying out such actions.

Reports of Ukrainian children being returned from the occupied territories and Russia come in regularly. For example, five more children aged 3 to 15 were recently returned to Ukrainian-controlled territory from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region.

Earlier, on September 12, ten more children aged 2 to 17 were successfully returned from the occupied part of the Kherson region.
