The occupiers are preparing for a mass mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region following the elections

Following the illegal holding of elections to the Russian State Duma in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the risk of a large-scale mobilization of men into the Russian army could rise sharply. The occupying forces are already preparing for such a scenario.

Yuriy Sobolevsky , first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, told Ukrinform about this.

He urged men currently in the temporarily occupied territories to leave beforethe Russian“elections” take place—afterward, they risk finding themselves in a mobilization trap.

“I want to remind men once again that the clock is ticking, and after the ‘elections,’ the risks of a large-scale Russian mobilization are simply enormous—they will fall into a trap. We can see that the occupiers are actively preparing for such a mobilization,” the lawmaker noted.

According to Sobolevsky, the risks of a large-scale conscription of residents of the occupied territories into the Russian army following the sham elections are very high.

He also stated that Ukrainian intelligence agencies will identify Ukrainian citizens who assist the occupiers in organizing illegal elections to the Russian State Duma in the temporarily occupied territories.

Recently, the Central Election Commission adopted a resolution declaring the organization of the so-called “elections” for deputies to the Russian State Duma in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to be illegitimate.

The Commission called this yet another violation of international law and an attempt to advance a new stage of pseudo-integration of the occupied territories.

The CEC called on Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories to refrain from any participation in the preparation and conduct of these pseudo-elections—in particular, from working in “electoral bodies,” running for office, campaigning, and observing the voting.
