The Dnipro District Court of Kyiv has canceled the arrest of the Anka vessel, which is owned by JK LTD from the Marshall Islands and is currently in the port of Reni, Odesa region.
According to the court' s ruling, the case file shows that the pre-trial investigation authorities have not conducted any investigative actions with the vessel to date. Instead, the application of such a measure to ensure criminal proceedings as the seizure of property actually blocks the activities of the legal entity.
Thus, according to the judges, the case file shows that the needs of the pre-trial investigation do not justify such interference with the rights and interests of the property owner, since under the circumstances the need for further application of such a measure to ensure criminal proceedings as the seizure of property has not been proven, and therefore the request of the property owner's representative should be granted.
In December 2025, the Kyiv Court of Appeal canceled both notices of suspicion against the ship's captain. The grounds were violations during the preparation and delivery of the notice of suspicion. The fact is that the information about the suspicion was published in Ukrainian in the Uriadovyi Kurier newspaper, and the ship's captain, Indian citizen Singh Bikramjit, does not subscribe, buy or read this publication and does not speak Ukrainian. The notices of suspicion and summonses were supposed to be translated into English or Hindi and sent to the suspect through the competent authorities of a foreign state or diplomatic missions, but this was not done.
Meanwhile, the National Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) has once again put the Anka vessel up for sale. A new auction with a starting price of UAH 8 million 179.2 thousand is scheduled for March 4. The previous auction with the same price failed due to the lack of bidders. In early December, the National Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) put the Anka vessel up for auction. The starting price of the lot was UAH 16 million 358.5 thousand, but there were no bidders at the auction either. In addition, at the end of December, the vessel was damaged in a Russian attack.
The Dniprovsky District Court of Kyiv handed it over to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (ARMA). The Security Service of Ukraine detained the vessel on suspicion of being used by Russia to steal Ukrainian agricultural products from the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.
According to the case file, at the end of 2024, the bulk carrier exported 5,000 tons of wheat from the port of Sevastopol, which was stolen in the temporarily occupied territory of southern Ukraine. The bulk carrier Anka was flying the flag of Tanzania. Previously, it was called Victoria. The vessel left the Moldovan port in the spring and was heading to the Turkish port of Gömlık.
On the evening of December 22, Russians again attacked Odesa with attack drones, damaging port infrastructure and a civilian vessel.
