On Thursday, March 5, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a Russian Ka-27 naval anti-submarine helicopter over the Black Sea.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy on its Facebook page.
The report states that the helicopter was destroyed by the forces and means of the Navy during a combat mission.
Main characteristics of the Ka-27:
- engines - 2 × TVZ-117VK (2200-2225 hp each);
- maximum speed - 270 km/h;
- cruising speed - 220 km/h;
- range - 800-900 km;
- practical ceiling - up to 5000 m;
- maximum takeoff weight - up to 12 tons.
The helicopter can operate both from coastal airfields and from ships, performing tasks independently or as part of a group.
At the same time, during the attack on the port of Novorossiysk on the night of March 2, the SBU, together with the Ukrainian Defense Forces, inflicted critical damage on the Russian frigate Admiral Essen, a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles.
This was reported to RBC-Ukraine by sources in the Security Service of Ukraine. The strike hit the ship's midship superstructure, which led to serious technical losses.
According to the available information:
- grenade launchers firing heat traps and radio jammers exploded;
- The electronic warfare system TK-25 was damaged;
- ZR-90 "Orekh" target illumination radars were damaged;
- the Fregat-M2M surveillance radar is probably out of commission.
The fire on board lasted about 18 hours, indicating large-scale internal damage. As a result, the frigate lost the ability to use Kalibr cruise missiles on the territory of Ukraine.
Also, during the same operation, at least five other ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were damaged, including theValentin Pikul minesweeper and the Yeysk and Kasimov anti-submarine ships, as well as air defense systems and oil infrastructure in the port.
Earlier, Intent wrote how this fall, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hit at least six strategic facilities in Crimea, including oil depots and terminals. The strikes caused fires, destroyed tanks and complicated enemy logistics.
