Intelligence officers have discovered a new base for Russian maritime drones in Crimea

Ukrainian intelligence has uncovered a new Russian naval drone base in annexed Crimea. The occupiers have built boathouses on Lake Donuzlav to test and store their unmanned boats.

Analysts from the Ukrainian OSINT project CyberBoroshno noted that, so far, no active combat use of unmanned boats by Russia has been recorded. However, the very fact that such infrastructure has been built indicates that the enemy is likely in the testing phase and is preparing a base for the future deployment of this class of vessels.

OSINT researcher H I Sutton identified at least 21 such boathouses in various parts of the Donuzlav water area. He noted that construction of the facilities began back in February, so the base may now be ready for full-scale operation. 

H. I. Sutton noted that a dirt road leads to each shelter, which is used by personnel to access the site and to transport the unmanned boats themselves. Inside such a shelter, the unmanned boats can be launched, undergo final preparations, and be temporarily stored, ready for deployment.

On September 2, a Russian unmanned surface vessel (MBEK) was destroyed in the Black Sea near Zmiinyi Island. It is unknown where it was launched from.

Earlier, a launch pad from which Russia fires “Onyx”missiles was destroyed in Crimea. Special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate successfully struck a Russian “Bastion” coastal missile system, which carries the missiles Russia uses to strike southern regions, particularly Odesa and Mykolaiv.
