Former Crimean judge sentenced to 14 years behind bars

The appeal upheld the verdict: the occupation judge from Crimea will spend 14 years in prison for treason.
This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The verdict against the former Ukrainian judge from Crimea, who was found guilty of treason, has entered into force. The appellate court upheld the decision of the court of first instance, according to which the convict will spend 14 years behind bars.
The investigation proved that after the occupation of the peninsula, the Themis servant violated his oath by going over to the enemy. He took a position in the illegally created judicial body of the Russian Federation, where he made decisions under Russian law, contributing to the establishment of the occupation authorities in Crimea.
Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol obtained a verdict against five "servants of Themis" from the peninsula. They were found guilty in absentia of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Each convict was sentenced to 13 years in prison with confiscation of all property. The investigation established that these persons, being citizens of Ukraine, after the occupation of Crimea, went over to the side of the enemy and voluntarily began working in the illegally created judicial bodies of the Russian Federation, thus contributing to the occupation regime.
Prosecutors proved that after the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, the convicts, having betrayed their oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people, went over to the enemy. They took up positions of 'judges' in the illegally created occupation structures, in particular in the Twenty-first Arbitration Court of Appeal of the Russian Federation, the Saksky District Court of the Republic of Crimea, and the Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol.
