The Crimean peninsula is facing a second wave of the fuel crisis. After gas stations ran out of popular gasoline, diesel fuel completely disappeared from the market.
This was reported by Krym.Realii with reference to an anonymous Crimean activist.
Despite Sergey Aksyonov's statements about overcoming the deficit, the situation with fuel on the peninsula has deteriorated sharply. Starting in the evening of December 30, not only popular gasoline (A-92, A-95 and premium A-95 ULTRA), but also diesel fuel disappeared from gas stations.
The main reasons for the crisis are said to be a logistical failure in the Kerch Strait due to storms and priority provision for the needs of the Russian army. As the winter period is traditionally accompanied by unstable operation of the crossing, the shortage could become long-lasting.
''This confirms our observations that there are no significant stocks of fuel, particularly gasoline, on the peninsula. And this is not so much the fault of the occupation authorities of Crimea as the successful work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which destroyed almost all fuel storage facilities in Crimea with their precise strikes,'' the activist said.
According to Reuters, the Russian oil refining industry in 2025 showed the worst results in the last 12 years. The main factor behind the decline was systematic strikes by Ukrainian drones, which paralyzed the work of the ten largest enterprises, some of which could not resume operations for months.
The situation was exacerbated by scheduled and emergency repairs at key facilities of Gazprom (Astrakhan and Surgut plants) and Rosneft (Kuibyshev refinery). Due to the acute domestic deficit, the Russian government was forced to return to the practice of restricting gasoline exports, which was first introduced in the spring of 2024.
