A strike on the port and a damaged train station: the aftermath of the attack on the Odesa region

On the night of August 22, Russia launched a missile and drone strike on the Odesa region. The train station in Rozdilna was damaged, and port infrastructure in the Izmail district was also targeted.

This was reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia . 

“The Odesa Railway is under attack. The station building at Rozdilna was destroyed,” the post reads. 

Train service was not suspended following the strike, and the consequences of the attack are currently being addressed. 

The Russians also attacked port infrastructure in the Izmail district.

According to the district military administration, damage was prevented thanks to the air defense system. There were no casualties or injuries.

According to the Regional Military Administration, Russian invaders targeted transportation, industrial, and energy infrastructure facilities, as well as residential areas in the Odesa region. One person is currently reported to have been injured.

The train station in Rozdilna sustained the most damage. A five-story residential building, an industrial facility, and a sports complex were also damaged.

Some towns in the region have experienced disruptions in electricity and water supply. Specialists have already begun emergency repair work.

Overnight, the Air Force warned of several groups of drones—including jet-powered drones and“Banderole”-type drones—moving toward the Odesa region. Some groups were heading toward Chornomorsk and Ovidopol.

In addition to drones, the military detected missiles launched from the Black Sea. Specifically, missiles were reported heading toward Zatoka and Chornomorsk.

Around 3:30 a.m., the Air Force warned of “Banderole” and jet-powered “Shahed” drones moving toward the Odesa region. At that time, a series of explosions rang out in the region.

Following the Russian attack, the “Tabaky” border crossing on the border between the Odesa region and Moldova resumed operations. The State Border Guard Service reportedthat the passage of people and vehicles is once again proceeding as usual.

As previously reported by Intent, on the night of August 21, the enemy attacked the Bolhrad and Izmail districts of the Odesa region with “Shahed”-type strike drones. One of the strikes hit the infrastructure of the “Tabaky” checkpoint.

Buildings and structures at the checkpoint were damaged as a result. Fires that broke out at the facilities were extinguished by State Emergency Service personnel.
