A second member of the Odessa band Cheshires was killed in the war

The body of Oleksandr Nosenko, the bass guitarist for the Odessa rock band Cheshires, who was killed in combat with Russian occupiers in the Sumy region, has been returned to his home village.

According to the press service of the Lyubashivka Village Council, he served as a mechanic and tank driver with the rank of senior soldier.

Oleksandr Nosenko was killed on March 11, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Zhuravka in the Sumy District of Sumy Oblast.

 “On behalf of the entire Lyubashiv community, we express our sincere condolences to the family, friends, comrades, and all loved ones of the fallen Hero. We share your grief and bow our heads in mourning. On the day of the funeral of this serviceman, who gave his life for Ukraine, the Lyubashivka settlement territorial community will observe a Day of Mourning,” the settlement council stated.

Earlier in 2024, Denis Yagupenko, a former member of the same band who had helped create the album “Drozh,” passed away. He served as head of the Legal and Human Resources Division of the Municipal Security Department of the Odesa City Council. At the start of Russia’s invasion, he helped establish a volunteer unit within the Odesa territorial community and provided ongoing legal support for a portion of the aid provided by the city council to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The band’s lead singer is also currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.Cheshire isa Ukrainian rock bandfrom Odesa, formed in 2004. In April 2019, the band released its first Ukrainian-language single and music video titled “Hardcore,” which soon reached number one on Radio Jam FM’s #GiftsOfTheYear chart.

People of culture go to war and die on the front lines just like everyone else. For example, on July 2, the Bookstore-Café cultural space in Odesa hosted a memorial eveningfor Andriy Gudimaanartist, writer, blogger, chef, and defender of Ukraine.
