A relay station in Crimea through which the Russians were controlling drones was struck

On the night of August 11–12, Ukrainian military forces struck a Russian ground-based relay station in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to reports, last night the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a ground-based relay station that the occupiers were using to control“Geran”/“Gerbera” strike drones.
The facility was located near the village of Olenivka in the Yevpatoria district of the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
A drone control relay station is an intermediate device or unmanned platform that receives a signal from the operator’s remote control, amplifies it, and transmits it to the drone (and vice versa—video and telemetry from the drone to the operator). It acts as a “bridge” that overcomes obstacles and significantly increases the communication range.
It is worth noting that this is not the first such strike against enemy drone control infrastructure in Crimea. On the night of July 26, the Ukrainian Defense Forces also struck a relay station used to control “Geran”/“Gerbera”-type strike UAVs in the Chornomorsk area (Autonomous Republic of Crimea).
Ukraine is conducting a large-scale campaign to isolate occupied Crimea by targeting the peninsula’s logistics infrastructure—the Kerch Bridge, ferry crossings, oil depots, ports, and ships of Russia’s “shadow fleet.”
The attacks are aimed at transforming Crimea from a Russian military rear base into a “logistical island” cut off from supplies.
Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recently stated that the Ukrainian military had developed a plan to isolate Crimea from afar as early as 2023. However, at that time, Western partners did not believe in its effectiveness.
