A man was detained in Crimea on suspicion of working for the SBU

A local resident was detained in Yevpatoria for allegedly collaborating with the Security Service of Ukraine. FSB officials claim that he planned to plant an explosive device under a Russian military vehicle.

FSB representatives believe that the 23-year-old man independently made contact with an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine and provided photos and videos of the locations of Russian Armed Forces facilities on the peninsula. In exchange for payment, he allegedly carried out tasks to verify the residential addresses of Black Sea Fleet servicemen and “public figures,” as well as searched open sources for information on law enforcement personnel.

The FSB also stated that the detainee was allegedly supposed to kill a Black Sea Fleet servicemember by planting an explosive device under his car.

Earlier, a 28-year-old resident of occupied Crimea was detained at Adler Airport. He is accused of organizing a Jehovah’s Witnesses cell. Searches were conducted at the detainee’s residence. According to the occupiers, “banned literature and other illegal materials” were allegedly seized during the investigation.

Earlier, Crimean political prisonerVolodymyr Maladykawasreleasedfromprisonafter six years of unlawful detention. He was convicted in October 2022 for participating in the “Jehovah’s Witnesses” religious community, which Russia banned in 2017.

The prosecution’s evidence against Volodymyr at the time consisted of videos of four worship services secretly recorded by FSB agents. Following this, the occupying forces conducted mass searches of believers’ homes in Sevastopol. Criminalproceedings were initiated against Volodymyr Maladyka. His case is an example of how Russia persecutes Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea for their religious beliefs.
