A journalist who had been reported missing was found dead in the Kherson region

Journalist Samuil Proskuryakov, who took part in the battles to liberate the Kherson region, has been officially declared dead. His fate had remained unknown for four years.
This was reported by the soldier’s wife, journalist Diana Kovalyova.
According to her, on October 14, a court declared Samuil Proskuryakov killed in action while carrying out a combat mission, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of his disappearance.
“On October 15, 2022, he could have told his friends and loved ones his funny and scary story about how he went missing for a few minutes during a battle in the Kherson region, saying, ‘You can’t even imagine what happened to me.’ And we would have laughed and cried. Unfortunately, we never heard that story,” she wrote.
According to“Detector Media,” Samuil Proskuryakov was born in 1993 in Kryvyi Rih into a large family of a Protestant pastor.
He was among the protesters during the Revolution of Dignity. He was wounded on Hrushevsky Street when a gas grenade exploded.
He later became a journalist and wrote primarily about human rights and social issues. He contributed to UNN, “Hromadske,” “Zaborona,” and “Babel.”
Before the full-scale invasion, he became editor-in-chief of Inker.
On February 24, 2022, Samuel and Diana were supposed to get married at the Vyshneve Civil Registry Office. Instead, the couple left Kyiv, which was under Russian shelling.
Later, he enlisted in the 128th Separate Transcarpathian Mountain Assault Brigade. He carried out combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. His unit was then sent on an offensive into the Kherson region.
During one of the battles, Samuel suffered a concussion. Despite the shelling, he forced himself to evacuate his wounded comrades and the bodies of the fallen.
After receiving medical treatment, he celebrated his wedding and returned to the front. On October 15, 2022, Samuel Proskuryakov was killed in action during the battle to liberate the Kherson region.
