Serviceman convicted of high treason in Odesa

The Prymorskyi Court of Odesa sentenced a serviceman to 15 years in prison for high treason.

According to the court' s verdict, having access to official information of the military unit, the accused in October 2024 corresponded in Telegram with an unidentified employee of the Russian Federation's intelligence agency.

The information he transmitted to the Russian concerned the location of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine could harm the defense and state security of Ukraine.

At the court hearing, the accused serviceman pleaded guilty to the criminal offense, confirmed the circumstances of the criminal offense as set out in the indictment. He sincerely repented of his actions, realized the illegality of his actions, drew appropriate conclusions for himself and asked for the least possible punishment.

Earlier, the court found a 19-year-old Odesa resident guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. prosecutors proved in court that the convict, looking for quick money on Telegram channels, was recruited by a Russian FSB officer in the spring of 2024.

Earlier, a former paramedic from Odesa was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason. After being recruited, the agent collected coordinates for air strikes on one of the region's port cities. Among the main targets of the enemy were the basing points of personnel and ships of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention in Odesa region of another agent of the Russian Federal Security Service who was coordinating missile and drone strikes on one of the region's port cities.
