The Security Service of Ukraine detained a woman in Odesa who is suspected of passing on the coordinates of local Defense Forces facilities to Russians and taking pictures of license plates of cars parked near military buildings.
According to the SBU press service, the woman did all this on the orders of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate.
The woman is engaged in business in Odesa and came to the attention of Russian special services through her acquaintance who lives in Russia and works for the game. According to the SBU Main Department of Internal Security, the potential targets of the aggressor included units of the Security Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in combat operations on the southern front.
While performing regular tasks, the woman from Odesa found out the location and number of air defense systems, tracked the movement of military equipment, the location, purpose, and number of participants in rallies. Allegedly, while passing by, she was looking at and writing down license plates of cars parked near military registration and enlistment offices and military prosecutors' offices.
The security service detained the woman when she was taking pictures of vehicles near a defense facility. During the searches, they seized her smartphone, on which she stored intelligence and coordinated her actions with the Russian game.
The SBU investigators served her a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The entrepreneur is being held in custody without the right to be released on bail. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the Izmail City District Court of Odesa Region found a resident of the city guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
