The full-scale invasion turned the lives of many Ukrainians upside down, and Odesa residents were no exception: some left, others went to war.

Yevhen Nazarov, senior lieutenant of the medical service of the 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral M. Ostrogradsky, spoke about these changes, mobilization, the work of a combat medic and life in Odesa.

"The war taught us that you cannot plan anything for tomorrow. You live in the moment here and now, like small children and animals. And life has turned upside down," he said.

In the interview, Intent's journalists and Yevhen Nazarov also discussed the music of the late 90s and early 2000s, the band's life and the civilian world.

The 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi is based in the village of Danyi in Odesa region in peacetime.

The military unit was formed in 2018. It took part in positional battles in eastern Ukraine near Mariupol. In 2022, it repelled a Russian attack. In 2023, it took part in a counteroffensive in the south.

The brigade is named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi, the commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Ukrainian State.

Earlier, Intent talked about the life of the dissident's daughter and the first years of Independence with Hromovytsia Berdnyk, a Ukrainian journalist, writer, researcher of traditional culture, who is the daughter of philosopher Oles Berdnyk.

We also spoke with Natalia Mykhailenko, who is currently photographing rallies in honor of prisoners and missing persons, and the director of the Odesa Regional Center for Patriotic Education, about her own history of joining the protests, her family context, and Odesa.

The integration of a soldier after being wounded, a topic that is very relevant now, was discussed with Oleksiy Prytula, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, about his path of mobilization, passing the medical examination, getting prostheses and rehabilitation.
