Odesa resident killed by grenade explosion in apartment

Police are establishing the circumstances of the explosion in the Khadzhybey district of Odesa, which killed a 52-year-old man.
This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region.
It has been preliminarily established that a grenade exploded in one of the apartments of an apartment building, and that his wife and an acquaintance were in the house with him. They were not injured. The issue of legal qualification of the incident and registration in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is being resolved.
A number of telegram channels reported that the man was a soldier and had left the unit without permission, but this information has not been officially confirmed by the police.
Earlier, police detained a 28-year-old woman suspected of making explosive devices to blow up people to order. The first device, installed near a residential building, did not work, and the second exploded when a man approached it, who received shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized.
Prosecutors of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office also sent to court an indictment against a local resident accused of organizing the explosion at the police station in Bilyayivka. The man was recruited by a representative of the Russian Federation's intelligence service. On the instructions of his supervisor, he agreed to manufacture improved explosive devices and transfer them for terrorist attacks in the region.
In June, the SBU in Odesa detained a man on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack ordered by the FSB, aimed at killing a military officer. According to the investigation, the perpetrator was a 31-year-old resident of Odesa region, recruited through Telegram channels for easy money. Initially, he was assigned a test task - to set fire to a military vehicle, after which he received instructions to organize an assassination attempt.
