The occupation forces in Crimea have resumed ferry service across the Kerch Strait, preparing backup routes for the evacuation of equipment and personnel.
This was reported by Volodymyr Zablotskyi, a naval expert, columnist for Defense Express magazine, researcher at the National Military History Museum of Ukraine, retired captain of the first rank, in an interview with oboz.ua.
According to Zablotsky, the Russians are aware of the threat of a Ukrainian counteroffensive, and this step is not a sign of logistics, but of preparation for escape. Most likely, the enemy sees the ferry crossing only as a means of evacuation and will no longer risk bringing cargo through it.
The main reason for this decision is the actual unsuitability of the Crimean bridge's railroad line. Zablotsky explains that the high temperatures caused by the truck explosion and subsequent burning of the tanker train have damaged the strength of the metal structures.
Now the Russians are forced to transport cargo in "pharmaceutical" doses - only 5-6 cars with long pauses. Even the restored ferry crossing is facing problems: some of the ferries have been destroyed and the pier is blocked. Because of this, the occupants are forced to use landing craft as a temporary alternative.
The expert also notes that the situation in the Black Sea remains complicated due to mines, but mostly mines from the First and Second World Wars. The Russian aerial bombs that are dropped into the water do not pose a serious threat, as they are impact munitions and do not work when in contact with water.
Earlier, on the night of September 30, units of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully attacked a radar station of the Russian S-400 Triumph air defense missile system in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized the symbolism of this attack, as the expensive Russian air defense system , which is designed to combat unmanned aerial vehicles, was neutralized by Ukrainian attack drones.
The ministry explained the importance of the target: the radar station is the "eyes" of the S-400 Triumph air defense missile system. Without this key element, which is responsible for surveillance and guidance, the entire system completely loses its combat capability.
